As Sahar’s parents are visiting Iran for a month, the ten-year-old is left behind in Vancouver – in the care of her grandmother, Maman Zari. Sahar dreams of fitting in with a group of BMX kids while Maman Zari suffers from homesickness. Searching for a sense of belonging, granddaughter and grandmother go on a series of adventures that reveal how precious family and cultural connections are, while exposing the challenges of immigrant life, unique to each generation.
