John Christou

John is currently the Director of Production & Operations, Programming | Creation at the NFB. He has been an active member of Montreal’s production community since the early 2000s. As Producer and Head of Development/Business Affairs at EyeSteelFilms, John was one of the producers on the NFB coproduced feature documentary Up the Yangtzee. In 2008, he started his own company, Prospector Films, where he earned a reputation for producing smart, authentic, indie films including Blood Quantum, Rhymes for Young Ghouls, The Saver, Inside These Walls, Last Woman Standing, Sound Asleep, File Under Miscellaneous, The Colony and Sorry, Rabbi. In 2013 the Hollywood Reporter named John one of the top Canadian Media Executives under 35. John recently finished an Executive MBA at Concordia (2017) and is a former chair of the board and National Board Member at the Documentary Organization of Canada.
