A Return to Memory

Before NFB’s Corral (director Colin Low) and Paul Tomkowicz: Street-railway Switchman (director Roman Kroitor), there was Gudrun Parker’s Listen to the Prairies. Parker was one of many NFB women, sometimes known as the Grierson Girls, who helped lay the groundwork for Canadian documentary film during the war years and for years following. A Return to Memory rediscovers the women and their work buried in the vaults and rewrites documentary history.
