Remambre

Directed by Sabina Rony

Produced by Mélanie Brière

Woven from a series of visual tableaux and immersive poetry, Remambre explores the forced erasure and falsification of Afro-descendant history. Sabina Rony’s intimate, stirring narration guides her children on a journey to reclaim that history and shows them how a free person is shaped. The filmmaker deconstructs the mechanisms of servitude and of identity fragmentation to convey a legacy based on freedom, dignity, and love of self. To her children, and to all scattered souls, she whispers that beauty persists despite everything—that love and unity do return.
