Hostel la Vista

Written and directed by Mochi Lin

Produced by Maral Mohammadian

A young woman arrives at a hostel in a foreign city and is adopted by the owner and appointed as his substitute. Having just left the “bubble” of school and stepped into
the “real world”, she tries to comprehend the enigmatic owner, and the many strangers who are also trapped there: backpackers, new immigrants, homeless
locals taking refuge, and even scholars and doctors who are there “by accident”. This is a 10-minute stop-motion animation short which transforms a hostel in Mile-End Montreal
into a microcosm of modern-day alienation, connection, compassion, understanding and survival.
