Knowing Gaze

Written and Directed by Dylan Glynn

Produced by Maral Mohammadian

Knowing Gaze is a living portrait of 3 queer friends as they navigate the whirlwind of modern gender politics. Examining specifically the subculture of gay men, the film fluidly moves through a series of interconnecting vignettes – from online personas to offline hookups, from the thrift store to the dancefloor to the lurid but loving safe-space of a bathhouse – these stories feature candid conversation and reflection in acidic dialog and interior monologues. The themes complement and contrast, offering up a quilt of contemporary insight in uncompromising queer local dialect: “the bitchiness, the gossip, the playfulness, the vulnerability, the melancholy, the poetry, the pain.”
