Nooshafarin

Written and Directed by Leila Khalilzadeh

Produced by Ariel Nasr

Nooshafarin is a performer and singer who lives in exile. Born and raised in Iran, she started a flourishing career as a movie actress in the 1970s, a period of freshness and innovation in Iranian popular arts. She soon became a popular vocalist as well. Unafraid to take risks, Nooshafarin became a household name for her talent, and for her daring, but with the Islamic Revolution of 1979, her life and career changed irrevocably. Today, she lives in Canada.

Drawing on Nooshafarin’s deep personal archive, and integrating hand-made animation, this film offers a rare look at an artist who continues to thrive, representing the country and culture from which she was exiled so many decades ago.
