Inspired by author/illustrator Thao Lam’s journey to Canada as a child refugee from Vietnam, Boat People is an animated short film in which a younger Thao recounts the story of her family’s escape through the metaphorical lens of her fascination with ants, whom many (but not Thao) consider to be pests.
