Central Documentary Unit

Located in Toronto, serving Ontario, Manitoba and Nunavut.

The Central Documentary Unit produces artful and impactful documentaries with deep social, cultural, and historical relevance. We collaborate with skilled Canadian documentary filmmakers who demonstrate a strong vision and a unique voice. We aim to make films that push boundaries – in the stories we tell, the forms our films take, or the audiences we seek to reach.

At the Central Documentary Unit, we care deeply about artistic excellence, centering marginalized perspectives, the point of view of the filmmaker, the power of documentary storytelling, and the freedom to experiment.

We are a full production studio with a dozen team members. We have approximately 20-25 projects underway at any point in time. We have a legacy of creating innovative and award-winning projects and we take great pride in our groundbreaking projects, which include Stories We TellEver Deadly, and What Walaa Wants.
