BC & Yukon Studio

Located in Vancouver, serving British Columbia and Yukon.

The BC & Yukon Studio is in the historic Gastown neighbourhood of Vancouver. We produce and co-produce linear documentary films, from short to feature length. The filmmakers we work with are as diverse as the places they come from, and represent a combination of emerging, mid-career and established creators with one shared goal: to make creative, engaging, relevant works that reflect their unique points of view. We strive to produce signature work in which the craftsmanship of the creative teams is of the highest level, and within that frame, we work diligently to ensure diversity of voice, stories and storytelling styles from across BC & Yukon.

The studio has approximately 15 projects underway at any given time: from early development to production to post-production and release. We strive to make projects that are evergreen: both timely and timeless. We are interested in documentary projects that are strongly linked to their creators. We are fueled by stories that reflect our region. Past projects include popular and ground-breaking work such as the musical documentary The Road Forward by Marie Clements, Because We Are Girls by Baljit Sangra and Christopher Auchter’s Now is The Time. Our projects embrace point-of-view storytelling best captured in the answer to the following three questions: Why you? Why now? Why this story?

We accept project proposals on an ongoing basis and review them three times a year: deadlines are October 15, February 15 and June 15. We prefer to review projects at an early stage of pre-development.
